The Challenge
Solitaire were called to a flood damaged property in Kelvedon Essex, to trace the cause of the leak and then complete any remedial works.
The Solitaire Solution
After and emergency plumber had attended and the insurance company had started works. Solitaire attended to a property in Kelvedon Essex, with every ceiling removed and walls stripped of any decoration, the waste was disposed of in the onsite skip.
Upon attending site, we quickly ascertained where the source of the leak was, the cold-water feed to the cold water storage cistern had started to leak, a 50P washer had caused all the issues the customer was now facing.
We replaced the washer and then proceeded to recommission the system, upon recommissioning we found multiple issues related to the flood damage, the excess water had caused the zone valve, pump and existing programmer to fail. We also noticed the hot water cylinder had seen better days and advised the customer to change the hot water cylinder to a new efficient, fast recovery hot water cylinder.
We quoted the remedial work withing 24hrs and completed the install withing the customer time frame. Installing 2 new zone valves, pump and valves, automatic bypass, new hive smart thermostat along with a new hot water cylinder.
We also ensure the heating wiring was up to scratch and ready for a modern condensing boiler in the future. Future proofing the house for any heating upgrade.
We then tuned our attention to the 90s gas boiler, after a thorough service and safety check the boiler gained a clean bill of health, although not as efficient as a modern boiler, the existing boiler still passed all the relevant gas safety checks.
