Welcome to new apprentice Bobby

Joining us as an apprentice, Bobby will be learning the ropes under the guidance of mentor, Spencer. Here we catch-up with Bobby as he starts his journey with us
What has been the most challenging part of your apprenticeship so far?
The most challenging part of my apprenticeship so far has been learning about the different types of joints and fittings that are being used and trying to remember what is what. 
 
What skills have you learned?
I have learnt a range of skills so far, such as, soldering pipes together, cutting lagging to size and putting it on pipes, looking at servicing oil boilers and I’ve also picked up communication skills with the customer when asking where things may be around the house. 
 
What’s a typical day on the job?
I get to the office for 7:50am and will have a tea while we brief for the day, after the brief we will quickly sort out vans before heading out for the first job around 8:30. Then we will go round doing our jobs, and head back to base for around 5pm and finish the day.
 
What kinds of projects have you been working on?
I have been working on a few projects so far, these are things such as, installing accumulator tanks in a loft, replacing a cold water storage tank, and taking out and installing a new boiler.
 
How is it being part of the Solitaire team?
Being a part of the Solitaire team is one of the best things I have done for myself, the Solitaire team is a great group of people it is a very social group and everyone is so welcoming and everyone gets treated with respect.
 
What advice would you give someone considering an apprenticeship?
The advice I would give to someone considering an apprenticeship is don’t be afraid to ask questions, try and get yourself involved and be as helpful as you can and don’t be afraid to get hands on when needed to.
